ABOUT CHEW'S

Since opening in May 2024, Chew’s Yard has become the place to socialise in Preston. Named after an 18thcentury artisans’ yard and historic alleyway linking Friargate and Market Street West, we’ve transformed a disused warehouse and joinery workshop into a vibrant contemporary destination, where people come together to eat, drink, relax and feel inspired.
Situated in the heart of the city, ‘Chew’s’ consists of three unique, interconnected spaces: a food and drinks hall with 5 independent traders, a versatile events room hosting live music, DJs, markets, networking, arts events and celebratory occasions, all wrapped around by a beautiful, leafy, walled garden.
Rather than impose a false interior decoration style, we retained the raw surfaces, textures, colours and atmosphere of the original working buildings, to allow a highly original venue to emerge that feels inclusive, familiar and authentic.
The creativity of our team has combined with the vivacious energy of customers, to awaken an overlooked part of the city. Chew’s Yard has evolved into a lively, super friendly place with a strong sense of community. Our evolution continues, there’s always lots going on, indoors and outdoors, throughout the seasons, with something for everyone. It's the perfect place to spend quality time with friends and family, where folk of all ages, from babes in arms to grandparents, will feel welcome and at home.

WHERE'S WALA

Where’s Wala was born from a simple idea — Indian street food needed a little shake-up. Something more fun, more vibrant. It’s often either a heavy sit-down meal or your standard takeaway, but we wanted to create something lighter, packed with flavour, and perfect forsharing with friends and family on a Saturday afternoon.
Rooted in our British-Indian heritage, growing up in Preston, and inspired by family recipes, Where’s Wala is our way of bringing a fresh take on the food we love. For us, it’s not just about what’s on the plate — it’s about the whole experience: how it feels, how it’s served, and giving
classic dishes a bit more personality.
