The Breweries

Founded in 2015, Black Lodge is a fast-moving, small batch brewery based in Liverpool's Baltic Triangle. Established by impassioned brewers, bar operators and beer drinkers alike. Creativity, collaboration, and experimentation are essential to what we do; creating and supporting characterful venues and making great beers inspired by their environments and our experiences. Black Lodge will be pouring 1 cask and 2 keg.

Founded in 2014, we brewed our first beers on February 14th, 2015. Throughout our brief yet vibrant history, we've crafted an extensive array of beers spanning the spectrum of old and new styles, embracing both classical and imaginative inspirations. This journey has been a

constant evolution of our brewing expertise, a refinement of our sensory evaluation techniques.

PRESTON BEER FESTIVAL

Friday 8th - Saturday 9th Nov

Chew’s Yard is happy to announce that we are hosting our first beer festival, in collaboration with Thornbridge and Escapade. We will be showcasing the best breweries that the northwest has to offer.

 

There are four sessions, Friday 12pm-4pm, Friday 5pm-9pm, Saturday 12pm-4pm, and Saturday 5pm-9pm.

 

A ticket for a session gets you a wristband, festival glass, half a pint of beer and access to the event space where there will be 10 fantastic breweries.

 

We also have some live entertainment for you:

 

Friday 7pm – The Cathedrals, expect everything from Foo Fighters to Britney Spears and everything in between.

 

Saturday 2pm – The Captain’s Crew, three men, two guitars and a fiddle.

 

Saturday 7pm – Lee Richards, playing acoustic covers as well as originals with his ‘soaring, raspy vocals and a rocky, bluesy flair’. 

Our Market Street neighbours Chain House were  established in 2017, they brew experimental small batch beer in Preston, all their beer is suitable for vegans.

Farm Yard Brew Co - Steve from Farm Yard started out as a homebrew enthusiast before deciding to expand and invest in his brewing equipment. Based on a farm in Cockerham they now have a tank space of 400,000 litres. Their beers Hoof, Chaff and Gulf have won Great Taste Awards and they are constantly making special beers as well as their 12 strong beers in constant production.

Sureshot are an independent brewery based in the belly of Manchester (under Piccadilly Station) that’s always focused on brewing beers we know people love: hoppy IPAs, clean lagers, and easy-drinking pales. Playing with the boundaries of their craft to bring the freshest, most exciting, and consistently excellent beers they can. After being only a little over 2 years, they’ve released over 160 different beers across thousands of hectolitres.

The brewery was originally based in the outbuildings of Thornbridge Hall, which was renovated in 2004 for the brewery installation. After the success of their first brew, Lord Marples they were tasked with something different, an IPA packed with punchy flavour and ABV - Jaipur was born in mid 2005. Following an array of awards the need for a new brewery was clear, they moved to a state of the art brewery and tap room in Riverside, Bakewell in 2009. They continue to innovate and produce consistently high quality and innovative beers.

Local brewery Jim Brew Brewing Co are based in Clifton. They are a 100% gluten free brewery, however what stands them apart is rather than filtering out the gluten after the beer is made, they don't add any wheat or barley in the first place.

Born out of lockdown in 2020, Matt, Michelle, Steve and Paul got together as Lakes Brew Co after being made redundant by Hawkshead Brewery. Their ambition was to become one of the most progressive and sociably innovative breweries in Cumbria. Located in Kendal they have quickly made a name for themselves making modern beer styles focused on freshness and quality.

Rivington Brewing Co - Founded in 2014 in Rivington. This brewery will be familiar to many, they focus on modern styles whilst drawing inspiration from the past. They are influenced by styles from all over the world but locality is really important.
